A new and exciting event debuted recently at the LYNX GC with the playing of the West Michigan Women's Cup. The inaugural event, soon to be annual contest, was held August 12th between two of the largest Women's Golf Organizations in the state; Kalamazoo Women's Golf Association (KWGA) and the newly formed Grand Rapids Women's Golf Association (GRWGA).
A first for SW Michigan, this event was spearheaded and organized by the two Boards of Directors including Jayme Heimonen (KWGA), Judy Kamis (GRWGA), Joan Lucas (KWGA), Marcie Palmer (GRWGA), Kim Rotz (KWGA) and Sue Westphall (GRWGA). A tremendous effort by all involved.
The two teams, comprised of 46 Members from each organization played a combination Best-Ball, Scramble and Singles Matches over the 18 holes played to determine bragging rights for the next year. Early in the day, it seemed to be a very tight match, but as results started to come in it ended decidedly in favor of the KWGA.
The best shot of the day came from Carla Stowie (GRWGA) who aced the Par 3, 90 yard 3rd Hole at The LYNX. Carla is not a stranger to Hole-in-One's...this was her 6th Hole-in-One all time. Congratulations Carla!
Spectacular weather, challenging golf course, great competitors; it truly was a great day. Plans are already underway to hold the 2021 event. Congratulations to ONE and ALL participants for a great show.
